I took my moggie to the garage and they told me i had a bulge in one of the front tyres and so they put on the spare instread.
I was just looking at the tyre sizes and realised a funny thing. I now have two 145/r14 on the drivers side and two 155/r14 on the passenger side! Im not and expert but can i guess this is not good!!
What i wan to ask is can i swap the tyres round so i have both 145s at the back and both 155s at the back or vice versa? or is having this setup not good? Im hoping one of these arrangements is ok as Im rather skint after the garage visit

thanks

It's certainly illegal as it is now......some 'garage'......tyres on axle sets must be the same size. 155s are too wide for standard wheels - so if I was you I would buy a couple of 145s so they are all the same.

That statement is a personal opinion. I and many others run 155s perfectly satisfactorily

Been there -done that - it's 'wobbly' in the extreme. I also wonder if it is a legitimate fitment - putting a 6" wide tread on a 3.5" wide wheel....?? I think tyre shops are supposed to check the correct fitment before fitting tyres as part of their 'duty of care'

155's fit fine on standard wheels, probably as common if not more so than 145's.

Not the best for handling though - MUCH better if they are on 4.5J van wheels

I measured the tread on the new Toyo 155s and it's 4 1/2".
Roy where did you get the 6" from?

ideal, ill prob put the 155s on the back and 145s on the front as soon as my new trolley jack arrives, typical... raise the car 2 inches off the ground and one of me jack's seals goes, oil everywhere and nothing to lift me car

.....
thanks everyone for your help

Using 155 tyres on 3.5" rims is outside of the manufacturer's recommendation.
Many use these and don't mind the handling but I've always been able to feel the difference and wasn't happy.
