Good afternoon Gents

I need to replace the exhaust system on my Minor 1000, including manifold.

I would like some recommendations of makes/suppliers of systems.

ie. If it was your car, what system would you choose and why?

Thanks

Colin

stainles steel carries a life time guarentee from suppliers
but mildsteel fits the manifold better

I have had two stainless steel exhausts fail after 10+ years, and when looking for the supplier, have found that they gave ceased trading. One that I bought several years ago, but fitted last weekend, lacked the bend to go over the rear axle, and the flange for the manifold join was crudely formed and welded on rather than being correctly formed from the tube. However, I don't know that that supplier's current stock is like.

In the old days, mild steel lasted about three years, came in one piece )and so could be difficult to fit), and was relatively cheap. Stainless came in two pieces, was easy to fit, lasted longer, cost more, and was arguably slightly noisier. It still represented the best long term value.

My advice would be to visit somewhere and actually see and feel the quality of what you are buying. If you can wait six weeks, then there are bound to be some exhausts at Cornbury.

Thanks to all for your help

I managed to locate an almost new 'one piece' mild steel exhaust for £15 on Gumtree from an enthusiast

Hopefully this should last at least 3-4 years

Thanks
