Split Screen Trim

Post by SUE482 »

Just had my windscreen chrome trim back from re-plating, it looks as though its now slightly misshapen so although it fits the tightness in the rubber surround is not, in my humble opinion, as secure as it should be. Has anyone used an adhesive or fixing agent to make it more secure.

hi sue, well I don,t think they fit well at best with the modern rubber.I used an adhesive on mine, believe stixall, black of course, wipe of excess with petrol then stick down with masking tape.works a treat. Sohow long did it take you to fit the screen ? did mine in about 2 days and 10 attempts...good luck joe

Hi Joe, yes it was a bit of job fitting the screen, 3 of us, 2 inside and one out pushing and shoving. Incidentally the most frustrating part of this refurb was putting in the new glove box inserts nothing fitted and the pre-drilled holes were way off. Thanks for the info with regards to sticking in the chrome, I'll give it a try when I return from sunning myself in Madeira. I'll let you know how I got on.
Regards, Ian
