I have been trying to cure a persistent exhaust leak from the manifold to exhaust pipe joint with no success, I have one of the horrible pressed type clamps .Unable to buy a cast type clamp anywhere as I am told they are a lot better I decided to make my own clamp from a piece of mild steel bar of a suitable diameter , it took a few hours of machining and I made the bore where it fits the exhaust pipe one size and where it fits the manifold a different size to best suit the installation ,the V groove was turned to suit and tried out on a spare manifold / small length of spare exhaust pipe I had. When I was happy it all fitted I then finally fitted it to the car , exhaust leak now gone. I have tried to upload a photo of the finished clamp I hope this works but if not I will get my daughter to sort out as computers are not my strong point[frame][/frame][frame][/frame]

Excellent! Way OTT of course, and I suggest BRASS nuts to save seizure in future. I bet you could sell a few if you go into production!

As you rightly say way over the top but with this design it supports the total cone on the exhaust system , the steel nuts were only for manufacture to bolt the 2 halves together during turning ,brass nuts now fitted during assembly to car

Don't forget to use never-seize also.

Now all you've got to do is get the manufacturing time down so that you can sell them at a sensible price. I'm sure that many would pay a fair price for a quality item that fitted - but whose definition of "fair"?

I'd certainly be willing to buy one!

Fair = What it cost to produce + a bit of profit.
Sorry, I have an LCB system so have no use for a clamp

I suspect if that was costed properly - it would be ~ £100 or more.........
