Hi All
Thanks for all your advice re my disc braked minor poor brakes.I cleaned the discs and carriers and fitted new pads and now they are acceptable and I will get used to them.
I am going to attempt yet again to post some pics to help in identifying head, engine block etc!

Certainly a 1275 "12G940" head, not sure on block. Has it got the breather 'can' on the timing cover? Or even simpler, does the ally tag left of the dizzy say '1100' or '1275'?

The head has a temp gauge fitting and so does the thermostat housing. You do not need both. Owners with 948s desperately need a thermostat housing with the temp gauge sensor so sell it for plenty of money.

Hi
I can't see an alloy tag by dizzy but engine no starts with 12CE-DA-H and numbers which I can't make out (should have gone to specsavers) There are also no "tappet" covers on manifold side of block.
This makes me think 1275 with my limited knowledge.I am sure one of you experts can enlighten me.
Thanks in advance Dave

12CE is a 1275 MG Midget engine. Looks like a canister oil filter.

It is a 1275 - and that air filter will be HORRIBLY strangling it - get rid of it!

+1.
The carb will be a superb HS4 and you can see the mounting nut for the air filter it would have originally had.
