hi,

i have a 1970 morris pickup, this has had a few conversions including twin cam fiat engine, and i am not sure if the rear axle is original, the hub pcd is 98mm or 3, 7/8" i thought standard morris fitment was 4" pcd. does anyone know what this fitment is, and where i can get a couple of front hubs to match, it already has a disc brake conversion but the hubs are scrap !! help!!!

A picture of the axle and the back wheels too, would help a lot.
My guess is the PCD is 100mm but I could be wrong.

3.75 " is TR7/Dolomite/Marina/MGF PCD. Surely a possibility that a Marina axle has been fitted?

98mm is a pcd used by fiat, and is the one used on the fiat 124 which could have been the source of the engine and box so it may well have been the source of the rear axle at the same time.

as for where you will get a front hub with that pcd i do not know of any off the shelf but i would speak to esm / jlh etc to see if they could get a set made up for you with the desired pcd, the good thing being that your pcd is less than the normal 4" pcd so the hubs should be able to be modified, it might be a different matter if you were after a larger pcd.

as the 124 had discs all round that rules out it being the fiat axle, it does however look my marina / ital rear axle but the pcd is not correct.. do you want to measure the pcd again or do you have any wheels at present if they are the marina / ital ones they are very distinctive and might help.

From what I see it appears to be a Marina axle. I would presume that the front hubs are Marina discs also. In what way are the front hubs unusable?

Anything Italian in the lettering on that drum?? Does look like it's Marina - with 3.75" PCD........

all the writing on the drums is in english, but pcd is def 98mm, they have adaptors on at the moment to convert to VW 4 studs, are marina pcd's not 98mm as standard?

the wheel adapters on the front have been fitted really badly ( with M8 bolts ) so the stud holes are knackered, will either have to replace or re-drill the hubs.

Make sure the studs on the rear haven't been 'bent' slightly to make that 98mm. The Marina axle is 3.75" = 95.25mm.

ok will check that cheers, can you get new wheel studs as the ones on there have been cut off flush with the wheel adapters to make them flush?

Of course - many and varied - but decide what you need first.....

the wheels on at the moment are vw caddy wheel on adapters

thanks for all you help, the axle and front hubs are all marina, so now thinking of putting some MGF wheels on.

you can get mgf / metro studs to fit straight into the old holes left by the marina / ital studs..

front should not be a problem from what i have read in your posts, might be more of an issue at the rear depending on how they have achieved the 98mm pcd.
