Hi,

Can anyone help me? I've just fitted new points to my fuel pump and it won't pump. When I switch on the points are drawn back towards the body of the pump and stay there and it's not pumping fuel. What have I botched up? Any help gratefully received.

Regards,

Barry

if the diaphram is too tight it wont pump. did you adjust the points so that they just throw over then unscrew it 4 more holes?

Hi Stevey,

I haven't touched the diaphragm, I've just changed the points. What holes do you mean?

Did you screw the new points assembly on the SAME number of turns as you unscrewed the old points assy?

I meant the holes in the diaphram. If you just screwed the new set on you needed to make sure as BMC says that it was the same amount

Ah, that was my mistake, then. How many turns is it supposed to be?

If you've got a manual the whole procedure is explained in it.

My problem is that the manuals don't explain how to change just the points.
Does anyone know how many turns the points assembly need to go on to the armature spindle, or is it just trial and error now? Or do I need to open the whole thing up which sounds complicated.

same number as you unscrewed.....I'm guessing you didn't note that - so all you can do now is trial and error - unscrew one turn and try it again, and so on........

You need manual akd 530. Sounds complicated but it's all there.
