Lowering update - and 2 questions

So, thanks to posts on here I managed to lower the suspension on my 1000. True, not enough, but know how to very quickly repeat the process tomorrow! Two questions are these...

How can you tell WHAT the correct height is? I am working on the principle that my 'morris for best' has 2 and 2/3 inch clearance from the top of the tyre to the outer edge of the wing.... is there a more scientific method~?!

Second, the rear pivot spigot did not and still does not sit fully in the rear arm - there are three or four mm sticking out (see pic) - does that matter?[frame]Image[/frame]

The correct height measurement is set out in the manual and gives you the distances from one point to another. The spigot should only protrude about 3mm approx so you're about right. It doesn't go in further.
