Carburetor for upgraded 1098

Finally established that the carb I was thinking of using is an HS6. The set up is standard 1098, with 12g940 head ( appropriate valve clearances established) and a Maniflow exhaust ( LCB) and inlet manifold. The cam is standard 1098.
Can I fit the HS6 with an appropriate needle for this set up?
Unfortunately I've been under the impression it was an HIF 44 or 38 and it clearly is not.

HS6 is the same size as a HIF44, if that's what you were after. But really a HS4/HIF38 is best on that setup.

1 3/4 inch is going to be too big for a 1098, it will still run as these carbs are very forgiving as but as chrisryder says something smaller will work better.

As the others have said - better with a 1.5" carb - by all means 'Vizardise' it for best flow. But if you must - then use the HS6 with whatever needle is in at the moment...and see how it goes.
