Gear lever question

I've got two gear levers, one has a washer welded on near the bottom. Is this correct or has it been added at some point?
If this is correct, I assume it goes below the gaiter.

ive never seen one with a washer like that before, think its been modded...

no- MM series ,MM series ii and 1000 not have seen like that - give full gear lever pic to know it shap - some one add it some time may be good plane

The gear lever is held in by the cover plate with 3 bolts. I cannot see how you would fit the cover plate with the washer there

The cover plate did slip over the washer Mike.
I gave the washer a tap and it popped off! (not welded as thought) I think someone must have slipped it over the lever to support the knackered gaiter.
