I recently did my doors and yes it was a struggle for me as well , I found it easier with someone helping to support the door ,what I also found was the hinge came out of the slot in the frame with the door closed as much as possible I know this makes it more awkward but it seemed to work for me , be very carefull as it is very easy to mark/chip the paintwork on the centre pillar with all the work involved , the hinge seems to rotate into the slot in the door but it is a real B-----D to do it is one of the jobs on my list as never again

I have done it and they do come off..... eventually. You do need a second person as the angle of the hinge has to be just right to pull out.
I took off all the chrome work and glass to make it lighter, but it didn't help the awkwardness of it all.
Good luck!

Thinking back to my Saloon days.. I think the rear door has to be close to the closed position ??,then you should be able to remove them.

Be prepared to have to touch up the b post.
If the paint has gone hard, then obviously get some protection like masking tape on it.

it is VERY difficult to get it back on without touching the pillar with the door or hinge, even with two people,(Don't ask why i know this) The second time I did mine after repainting the pillar,I let the paint harden for a week and then fully masked it off with tape. Before going anywhere near it,put a couple of marks on the tape but non under neath.

Sounds like you (like me), put your rear doors on with a smile. Muttering the words "****!", "****!" and "****!!!!!" after every "DONK!"

I followed this excellent advice today...for I too had the same head scratching moment and the doors came off with no trouble ...on my own. Simples. This forum is a Godsend
