Your reg number is not 'strange' but reasonably rare now. Older registration numbers started with a single letter before the number then two letters then finally three letters and three numbers. When these were exhausted in some areas they reversed them and put the numbers first followed by a single letter. Your H reg number was from the second area to do this Middlesex in 1953. They were just beaten by Staffordshire who issued the reverse E reg in early 1953. Only D, E, F, H, K, N, R, U and W were issued that way round and now command silly prices on the cherished registration number scene. There are four figure H numbers advertised on the Reg Transfers site between £2000 and £5000. Doesn't mean to say they will get it but it an indication of their possible value. Keep the number on your car if you can!! Busguy

Hi Pat
I'm sure your car was in Rugby area Late 80s early 90s or certainly a very similar no - definately 4 nos H. As I recall this was a Green Early Series 11 Saloon.
Are you in MMOC - contact Rugby Branch

If you send a fiver to the DVLC they will send you the history back to the change in log books (in the early 70`s I think)

Hi Pat
D'oh - With you not listing your location I did'nt think of you - there was a similar no car in Rugby area & I've also seen several other single H plates all on early series 11 cars must have been a trend at the time.
Will promise to be more alert in future esp at club metings.

I think you can get a form from your local Post Office or just write/contact the DVLC direct, its a few years since I did it.
