could someone with the know how on here get a video or sound clip of their engine pinking so a relative newbie like me can have an idea of how it sounds? I read loads of threads that say "pinking" and have an idea, but a description of a sound is only so helpful... thanks folks & Happy Easter

I had a quick look on you tube but couldn't find a good example.
You will hear an extreme version on a modern car if someone tries to pull away in 3rd, after about a second the anti knock will kick in and stop it though.
If you hear a rattling noise when the engine is under stress when climbing a steep hill in top, but it stops when you ease of the throttle, that's pinking.

As above - it's a tinkling/light rattling noise , sometimes called pinging - the word 'pinking' (or pinging) pretty much describes how it sounds.......

I always describe it as the sound of dropping small ball bearings into a glass one by one
