dashboard window vent / demister locateing screws

Post by Budgie »

Right not sure how this happened [apart from the obvious  ] but went to go for a drive in my tourer this morning and noticed that the two screws that hold the air vent gubbings underneath the dashboard window vents are missing [there are two each side] so i need to replace them as i assume they've worked loose and fallen down the vents itself. So my question, are these threaded screws or self tappers and if they are threaded does anyone have two going spare that they would be willing to sell.

Many thanks,

Mike. :D

Hi Mike,
They are definitely self tapping screws.
Best wishes,
Mike.

Ah right i could just about see the assembly that the self tapper located but couldn't quite work out if it was a self tapper of threaded bolt so i didn't want to chance it hence the query, so glad i've had three positive I.D's to my question i can happily go ahead and pop a self tapper in with confidence in the knowledge that i'm not chewing up a perfectly good thread !
Once again many thanks guys . :D

I've just bought some of these on eBay, very reasonable. Here's the link if you need some.
Best wishes,
Mike.

Hello, Had this problem with mine a couple of times. Never did find the screws. The last time this happened i used new self tappers with a dab of thread lock on them, that was about 4 years ago. no problems since. You need a good stubby.
