Well done Vettel!

Post by bmcecosse »

That was a really good victory in Malaysia Mr Vettel - you must be very proud of yourself today. The good thing for us all though - from now on there will be NO team orders in Red Bull - Webber now knows that you won't honour any agreement, and so we can expect to see close racing with no quarter given - and inevitably there will be body damage and retirements. Bring it on I say!!

Indeed, I thought the same. Team orders are useless if only one will adhere!

Was very interesting for all that to be happening at the same time Hamilton and Rosberg were being so gentlemanly about their similar situation. Ok, if it was for the win, Rosberg may have done the same as Vettel, but it was a stark contrast to see.

Did you catch any of the interview with Ross Brawn? He was asked if he was disappointed in Rosbergs displeasure at having to stay behind Hamilton. Ross Brawns response was 'I'd be disappointed if he wasn't!'.

Actually - I was so disgusted that I switched off as they crossed the line. I do believe that Rosberg should have been allowed through - Hamilton wasn't following 'team orders' - he had driven too hard early on and used up too much fuel - and the extra pit stop to visit his old pals didn't help either. So both these things are entirely his fault - not a car or team fault. Therefore Rosberg should have been allowed to go through - indeed it would have been a gentlemanly move for Hamilton to INSIST that Rosberg should go through. Just think how that may have stood him later on in the season. But it will be great watching the Red Bulls from now on! Ever heard of a 'brake test' Vettel??? I think you may get a few in the races to come.......

Imagine if you had had a bet on Webber? Seems it's now open to manipulation

Brawn insists that Rosberg was low on fuel too... Whether he just told Rosberg that to slow his down is open to debate :P

I imagine Mercedes see Hamilton as their best hope for the championship, so wanted to give him the benefit of the points. But you can also see the team point of view. 3rd and 4th or 3rd and 4th... the team get the same points either way, but have one driver pass another unnecessarily and have them take each other out? - no points at all.

Plus, if Rosberg had gone past Hamilton, odds are he'd have made a hard charge to catch Webber... even more likely to go off chasing tenths of a second - safest bet for the team was to keep them in safe points-winning positions.

On another note, Lewis must be pleased to see how badly McLaren are doing...

The consensus is that Hamilton has a clause in his contract that he will be the top dog at all times.
