Have just sorted this out and looking to put back on. however trying to find a picture of which way up it goes is hard work, just gone through cars for sale on here and they do vary ?

I am sure some one will put me right ?

I always thought it was the flat bit facing down, ready to be corrected.
Doesn't really affect operation as far as I know.

Definately flat across the top. Ref "Original Morris Minor" P.17, 40, 57, 59, 78, 79.

The reason some handles have the flat edge down is someone flipped it so that it would lock. Some assembllies were assembled incorrectly and will not lock it the normal position. In order to correct it the dished metal cup needs to be unstaked and the lock clyinder removed in order to flip the offending piece.
