Many years ago I purchased a power drill that looked pretty much like a normal mains drill, but worked from a 12 volt battery via crocodile clips. Unfortunately, an argument with sea water means that it is now ruined; and I want to but another one. I'm hoping that someone will be able to point me to a supplier, as I can't find one anywhere. I do NOT want a rechargeable drill, nor to mess about converting an old cordless one, I just want to buy a purpose made 12 volt corded drill, and would be very grateful for any pointers. Good question! The label came off years ago, and all I can say is that the case was orange

I doubt you will get one new, why would anyone make something of such limited usability when battery technology allows for something much more flexible?
It has the sound of a Pifco product of some antiquity.

12V impact wrenches are still readily available but not drills for some reason.

They used to offer such things in Practical Motorist, Car Mechanics and suchlike donkeys years ago. Don't know where to suggest other than autojumbles and eBay.

Sadly I think the easiest route is to add a cable to a rechargeable 12 or 14v drill - it iis only 2 wires.

As an alternative you can get a 600w mains drill and use a cheap 1000w inverter (the cheap ones are good for under 500w continuous or shorter bursts of ~750W). I got my cheap small 1000w inverter online from china for under £25 delivered.

Thanks all, I've tried following the Irish link, but no response as yet to an enquiry. The corded sort are generally lighter and more compact than the rechargeable ones, don't consume so much metal, and don't go flat! It's possible to buy 12 volt fridges, freezers, microwaves, televisions, hair dryers, vacuum cleaners, and goodness knows what else; so there must be a drill somewhere...

A lot of the weight of a battery drill is the battery so take away the battery and its a lot lighter
