my radiator has now sprung a leak
looks bad as the dam thing was emptying quick...
cant pin point the place yet but will tomorrow .
is a recore cheaper than a new one?
can't fork out £149 for a new one

or has anyone a good cheap used one local to me please ...

What happened? They don't usually just 'spring a leak'. You could try soldering the leak.........

roy.. just replaced the rocker cover gasket.( the car has been off the road
since 2010; ) and was checking for leaks....

result.... took it to a radiator repairer ...
he checked it and said it had been hit by a small stone
or similar ..
they cleaned it out and repaired the leak.
pressure tested and painted it
for the princely sum of.......£15...
now thats what i call bloody cheap

Well done - good job at a very fair price.

Reminds me of a cooper rad I had re-cored years back.I went to collect it and found the building on Fire. Luckily ( for me anyway)
one of the guys said he just had time to grab the rad on his way out! Probably the last rad to come out of that place for a while!

That sounds more than reasonable. Where did you get that done, my spare has a similar problem that needs a fix...

a local repair place in norwich.
was told it would be about £25
at express radiators

Thanks for the info. I see they also do fuel tank repairs which might handy in the future.
