Valve clearane (1275 Midget engine)
Just a quick question as I am planning to screw my cylinder head on later today.. From what I remember it's 50lbs/psi, but what's the reccomended valve clearance??

Hello Yellowpinky thankfully my good lady came to your rescue as she printed off my pdf just in time to give you this information as i too want to put a 1275 in my moggie
The valve rocker clearance (cold) is -012 inch (.3mm)

What is 50 lbs/psi??? The torque to use on the head nuts is 44 ft lbf - unless it has the latest studs fitted (Y on the tip) and you have flanged nuts - in which case 50 ft lbf is the max. The inlet valves should be set to 12 thou gap, and the exhausts to 15 thou to allow for the additional expansion of the hot exhaust valves - to ensure a gap remains in all conditions.

Looks like i got my lbs/psi with ft lbf in a muddle....Thanks for the info.. It's back on...fingers crossed everything runs ok...alright so far..

Retorque after the first heat cycle - very important - and then reset the gaps again.
