Hi everyone.
Recently bought 1969 traveller which came with one ignition key that also fits front door lock.
Where can I get spare keys.
Have tried usual places to get one cut but to no avail.
Thanks in anticipation

ESM can supply blank keys or will also cut them for you if you give them the number:

Do you have a " real locksmith" locally rather than a shoe repairer, who cuts keys.My local man cut three keys for me few years back and I had change from a £10...bargain.

Yup. My local key place had no problem supplying new keys. Had to find em first like. Glad I did as he said the original key was very worn, hate to think what the locks are like

If you don't have the key number - you will struggke to buy a replacement. Only hope is to have one cut from the master you have. Is there a number stamped on the Ign switch front ??

Unless it has been swapped for one from an earlier (pull start?) model then I think they were discontinued for good.

Your best bet is probably to buy one of the blank keys from ESM then take it to a local key cutter to be cut to match your current key. Most of the later Minors had an 'FS' key:

Hi all
I have no number on key or ignition and the Key blank Louisa has given me doesnt look the same as mine has a shoulder to each side.
I will try some more locksmiths and scan all the blanks on ESM
Thanks all for trying
Jackie

Then you probably have the roundheaded variety. So long as the key fits the lock it doesn't matter which "head" type it's cut from.
Take the original to somewhere that cuts keys (shoe repairers?). Take it home and try it in your locks. If it doesn't fit take it back to the key cutter and ask for them to try again. Most places tell you to come back if it's doesn't fit.

Hi just visited my local Timpsons ,they had three in stock ,would cut 3 for a tenner or £4 each ,if they had to order them in it would be 2 for a tenner,
It's the shaft that counts.
Thats the second Timpson i've tried (Solihull being the other) always been able to walk out with a brand new key(Melanie 1972?)

Tom Roy in Great Ayton have just about all the keys in stock.
You would need to visit to ascertain a match though without a number.

Blimey! Key cutting in Tenerife is 1 euro - with the shop supplying the blank in that price. Not sure if they have FS blanks mind you...
