Apparently all six remaining Mallard type A class locomotives are to be on display together in York Railway museum this July.
For anyone that may be interested.

now you know as much as I do, what a grand day out Grommit, a trip to York in the Morris to see Sir Nigels finest.

Just been last weekend. Mallard and Dwight D Eisenhower were parked side by side in the Great Hall round the turntable.
Another 4 would be quite a sight! I wonder how many A4s survive, though I suppose 6 may the answer...

Gresley A4 Pacific, not a big loco but impressive nontheless.

I wonder if the Chrysler Airflow is still on display there. It was a rare RHD UK version, but the reg. was not on the DVLA system when I last checked.

I didn't see it there. It was a special display on streamlining featuring the 'restreamlined' Coronation loco. I remember seeing it a couple of years ago when last there, but a lot has been moved round since.
The Chrysler gave the impression of a long term museum piece and not a car that had been on the road recently. Hard to describe, but it was the impression I got from its condition.

Indeed, I had a good nose around and looking at the interior and the paintwork it appeared to have been a static display for a very long time. Road useage would have benefited it but at least the public could see it.

Guilty as charged.... This part shows the very slow (5mph) trundle along the foreshore - other videos from the same source (tourscotland) show the rest of the (rather faster!) journey on the same trip to Birkhill and then on to Manuel. Morayshire shares a good number of parts with the A4 - wheels/springs/axle boxes/crank axle etc And uses the same 3 cylinder layout with the 'Gresley' conjugated drive to the centre cylinder valves. #9 had to stop for a 'blow up' - dare not risk pressure getting too low so the injectors fail to work....... Always better to be safe than sorry.

I'm hoping to bring the finished convertible up to Scotland to see friends in Perth, Dalry and Inverness in the late summer. The Bo'ness 'experience' is definitely on my list of must do's whilst I am in the area. I'll come and say hi

Let me know nearer the time and I will know then my Roster dates. Unfortunately I'm not on every week-end! During the skool summer hols we do run 7 days/week.

No worries - I will do that - my dates are pretty flexible so we can make sure a meet up is possible. Thanks - will search out those other videos now too
