Hi all,
What does the 'push heater' or 'heater control valve' do? The handbook says, enigmatically, I think:-
'Push in the heater control valve knob on the fascia if a circulation of heated air is required'.
Really grateful if someone can explain what it means. I don't understand so I don't touch it. I just use the switches on the heater to turn it on and off and to direct it to the screen or car. My Minor is a 1969 Saloon.
Thanks,
Matt

'Push Heater' - what is it for?
This is Myrtle.

Pushing It allows water to circulate through the heater matrix, if you pull it it stops the water from going through.

Yep, pulling it out closes the valve at the back of the head (between rocker cover and battery), to stop hot water flowing to the heater.
It should really say 'Pull Colderer', but they probably couldn't work out how to word it... like me!
It should really always be left pushed in. The only reason you'd pull it out is if you got too hot on a hot day, but it's that exact situation that you want it pushed in, to help cool the engine!
If I pull mine out nothing happens anyway...

On the other hand if the valve on the back of the cylinder head is knackered it may not do much anyway
