The Bl##dy top hose has cracked up and it's been on the car less than 12 months!
I have ordered a silicone hose with a 45 degree bend from ASH.com and will cut it to fit.
Will let you know what the end result looks like.

Probably down to the quality of the rubber, but worth checking that there is not excessive movement of the engine on it's mountings ?
If the rubbers on the engine steady bar and the mounts on the towers are " pass their sell by date " it could be another / contributory cause of premature cracking of the top hose.See if the engine resists your attempts to shake from side to side.

Replaced the stock top hose with this Silicon/Kevlar hose from Auto Silicon Hoses and it was an absolute doddle to fit.
It's so flexible yet tough and easily bridged the awkward gap between rad and thermostat.
Would recommend this company's hoses without hesitation! [frame][/frame][frame][/frame]

Kevlar hoses in general have a poor reputation - you will be best advised to carry a spare!

Is it just me or is the fan gaurd on the radiator header tank on upsidedown making it very close to the hose. doubt if it'd cause a problem just looked unusual.
I do like the domed nuts on thermostat and head though. Very bling

Sound advice Roy - I plan to carry a complete set of spare hoses just in case.

You could be right about the fan guard - my little mog has some weird and wonderful adaptations so anything's possible!

Whats the problem with modern rubber, restored a cooper a few years ago and renewed everything, within 12 months the hydro dust covers had perished, complete crap and they were not cheap. All of the hoses currently on the minor are at least 20 years old and still looking good.

ive got old rubber hoses and they are doing fine.
