Driverside suspension banging

Hi
I am back into the ownership of a moggy after a 5 year break.
Just bought a Morris 1000 2 door. as with most moggies plenty of bits and bobs need doing.
1st question one of many i would think.
The driverside suspension bank when going over a pot hole, it strikes the underside of the wing. I asume its the suspension arm thats inside the engine bay, as it looks like its been leaking,I would like to replace this park and and i suppose it would be prudent to renew all rubbers and bushes. Can anyone tell me whether the driverside is counted as the left or right.also is it a simple job to just unbolt from the engine wall, or do i have to compress all the suspension parts.
Finally where is the best place to get the replacement part form
Many Thanks
Jason

Drivers side is right.
Also check the rebound and bump stops are there. There should be a rectangular rubber pad under the suspension arm and a tapered rubber block bolted on the inner wing directly above the suspension arm. It is of paramount importance that these are fitted.

If you have just bought the car then it would be wise to strip down the front suspension and inspect the top and bottom swivel pins for wear and pack them with fresh grease. It saves the embarassment of sitting at the roadside with a wheel hanging off. Then of course the braking system will need a thorough inspection and overhall
Parts are readily available from any of the suppliers listed in Minor Matters or The Morris Minor Magazine.

Thanks for the help
The bump stops are missing, I take it they are fitted to the underside of the wing directly above the suspension.
would i be able to remove the hydralic damper to test it easily, it looks like it has been leaking as there is a dark residue on the outer casing, the otherside is dry. Also where does the other stop go, the one with the bracket attached, looks like i might need a workshop manual.
Would it be the hydralic damper that has gone, thus causing the front right suspension to bang when going over speed bumps
Thanks
Jason

Yes -I think a Manual will be useful for you. The leaking damper should indeed be exchanged for a 'reconditioned' one. My suggestion is to then drain all the dampers and refill with SAE 40 (or even 50) oil. The bump stops are essential. PM sent with a useful link.

Yes underside of the wing, the other part fits through the square hole in the inner wing that the suspension lever passes through. When you jack the front end up the lever rests on the rubber stop before it hit the inner wing.
