Is the morris 1000 engine basically the same as the Marina 1275 engine.

I believe they are both 'A' series engines.

i.e. is the distributer the same on each.

I know the oil filter is different from threads I have read,

What other differences are there?

They are versions of the same engine, although I wouldn't automatically assume parts are interchangeable as there were a lot of variants over the years

The oil filters are indeed very different. The distributor is also different on the later Marina type engines. But these are details - essentially they are the same engine - just enlarged and updated as the years rolled by.

They are more like brothers and sisters,uncles and aunties rather than identical twins

Do you find any difficulty getting spares for the Marina engine.

That is run of the mill items like filters, points, distributer caps, etc.

Also where is the best place to purchase these type of items?

I have just bought a Minor with a 1275cc Marina engine fitted.
