In the Process of fitting a Magnetronic Electronic Ignition and the post which the points pivot upon needs reducin g in height to allow the module to fit.
Having removed the two screws and the vacuum spring, should the base plate just pull out or is their any other fixings that need to be released before the plate can be removed?

It should just lift up - but personally, I stick with points! I suggest you get a spare baseplate and use that for the electronic - and carry the complete old baseplate in the glovebox so you can easily revert to points when the electronics pack up on a dark and windy night..........

Good idea about the base plate and carrying spares as a last resort.

Not a last resort - a 'sensible precaution'. But it must be a baseplate (or complete dizzy) that has been lifted out of a running engine - so you can rely on it when you need it.
