Front seats

Hi,
I have a 1957 4 door saloon and I want to fit replacement front seats, as the original ones are a bit of a pain on long journeys.I am trying to source a donor car to replace my front seats with red ones. From looking at the various posts on MMOC, it would seem that the vehicles are, Alfa Romeo 156 (year?), Saab 8000/ 9000/ 960 (year?) BMW e361 31 6i compact (year?), Jeep Cherokee (year?), Mazda MX5 (year?), Rover 75/ 200/ 111/ (year?) and the Suzuki Iginis (year?). Have I missed any? These it would seem are suitable donor cars for front seats. My question is does it matter which year these cars are when looking for the parts. With regards to the subframes can these be sourced on line, or do you have to have one made to fit the seat. I am fairly new to the site and I am still learning my way around the various topics/threads?...
So I hope you can be a little patient for this silver surfer.
Many thanks for any advice.
Mike :o

I agree on the original seats being a pain on long journeys. I would also suggest looking at Ford KA front seats as i am sure they will fit and are very comfortable.

Hi,
I just padded my seats out with square cushion inserts from Tescos. Stuffed under the strapping they are just the right size to fit in and pad them out.
They are now perfectly comfortable / more supportive for longer journeys, without going to the expense of buying replacement seats and frames. :P
And then having to make them fit.......
The only thing the original seats lack is a headrest.
But you can't have everything..............
Best wishes,
Mike.

Having experienced the same problems with the original seats (78 years old and arthritic!), I purchased a pair of 2004 Ford Focus seats (ebay, for £10, believe it or not, and in perfect condition!). They fit very well with very little adaptation, and make all the difference in the world. The only downside is that they make access to the rear seats on my two-door Minor 1000 extremely difficult, and leave little legroom in the back.

Rover BRM are really good quality seats, the are becomming a little like rocking horse droppings now but if you want mondern red seats these will fit the bill. These ones have gone but they do come up on the bay. http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=48144
