The first was a really tidy and sound example some distance outside Jaffna.[frame][/frame][frame][/frame]

1965 according to the owner and sound as a pound, all original metal.

The next one was in the car park of the hotel I'm now staying in after a less salubrious one last night.[frame][/frame][frame][/frame]

Next in someone front garden with a couple of other classics, the white Ford 100E is a goer, I saw it driving around the day before.[frame][/frame]
The Minor was in a much worse state than shows in the picture, plenty of rust evident on the wings and door bottoms.
It was once a taxi cab the owner said which probably explains it.

Last one for now, parked up in the middle of the road outside the hospital;[frame][/frame]

There is at least one, and probably two, nicer examples driving around the place.
Also a tidy grey Minor that nearly ran me over! Didn't manage to get a picture of that one but it did have a very effective horn!

Well done you! We were in Sri lanka over Christmas, and in Jaffna too! Lots of Farina Oxfords, I did find some Morris Minors for sale. I will try and post some pics, loved Jaffna, but boy did it rain!!

I note they all have external sunvisors fitted, must be an essential over there.

They do!! Perhaps we could import some back?

Good point about the external sun visors also very nice original split screen window trims, the problem is that if I showed an interest the prices would be sky high!

A40, not as good as it looks, a few taps on the front wing resulted in ferrous oxide dust dropping out. No idea of a price either.[frame][/frame]

Thanks for the close up of the chassis plate, can you confrm it as SMM 138904 and can you tell from the remains if it is a 2,4 door or convertible?

Looks like a genuine convertible to me even the seam pattern of the hood looks original.

Confused which caption refered to which photo. SMM 138904 = EY 6623

The caption referring to SMM etc is for the "to be restored" convertible in the picture above that post.

Could be a Simca Aronde (a late one) - need more pics, door handles are a bit low

I gave him the pump that was on my car when I got it, reliable but noisy.
From what I could tell it's about the same as what's fitted, it worked fine for at least 20Kms and probably 40 so not much wrong with it.
It could easily be a Simca, Saab was a guess.
The chassis plate is from the pictured convertible, I'd have wiped it with my finger if I'd thought of it at the time.
I assume it was CKD does the number confirm this?
The captions refer to the pictures above though they end up closer to the picture below.

A brand new Tata Nano is Rs. 1,560,000.00 with VAT or about £7,936 had a ride in one which was being used as a taxi, not a bad car as far as I could tell.[frame][/frame]

A blast from my past, I was polishing cars for a dealer when these were coming onto the second hand market, can't remember when I last saw one.[frame][/frame]
