Costs for new floor

Hi all,
My Sister-in-Law has a 1971 2 door Moggy that hasn't moved for 6 years. She very kindly offered to give it to me to fix up. I confess that I do not know a lot about working on these cars, but I do know that it will need a new floor and that is obviously the major structural part of the car. It failed it's MOT 6 years ago because the front and rear suspension (bushes on near side front have perished and near side rear valance holed). There is nothing left to weld on to, so hence the new floor!
So, before I take this on, I'm hoping someone can give me some indication of how serious this is and the likely costs involved.

Bodywork is generally in pretty good shape and there are no obvious parts missing.

Many thanks,[frame]Image[/frame]

Don't know where you are in the UK, but if you are a member of MMOC, then look at the ad on Page 49 on the current Minor Matters. Staffordshire Minors say they offer "complete floor replacement including sills, box plates, spring hangers etc for £999.00p with a five year warranty! ( I suspect that that would be exclusive of VAT!)
Sounds a bit too good to be true to me, but there you go!!
I should point out that I am in no way affiliated or beholden to that company, nor have I any experience of their workmanship at all.
This is just for your information. If you contact them, then you make up your own mind, but this price has been offered by them for at least a year now! Makes me wish I lived a wee bit further south!!
Good luck. Keep us posted!

Post up your location as there maybe a MMOC branch close to you and friendly, knowledegable person who can give an honest opinion on the condition of the car so you can speak directly to a car restorer and get a ball park figure for the work.

If you can't do this jack the car up and put it on stands/ramps and take some photos to post up here so other board members can give you some guidance on how to tackle the restoration.

That £999 sounds like a good deal. Ask if it includes a new crossmember - which is almost certainly going to be required.

Thanks all.
The car is currently in Milton Keynes and I live in Bromley. It will most likely end up at a friends near Heathrow as he is going to help.

" near side rear valance holed " doesn't give us much to work on. We need pictures....
