A useful tip to avoid poor starting on damp morning is to wash the dizzy cap [inside and out ] and also all the ignition leads ,caps etc with Methelated Spirit.
This will remove all traces of oil film that allows the spark to '' track '' and I can assure you this is far better than spraying WD4O everywhere .It really works on my rally mini through mud rain and snow
Try it.[frame]Image[/frame]

I used to fit an after market rubber boot over the dizzy to keep the wet/rain away from the cap as the dizzy was positioned just in front of the grill :(

Take it from my hard experience ,the rubber covers cause the cap to ''sweat '' which exacerbates the problem ,but better than nowt.

Exactly - the rubber covers are 'pants'. Can't beat a good shield in front of the dizzy for the Mini though! And yes - spotlessly clean is the way to go.

beware the dreaded tracking which can completely ruin a coil.
