What size nut do I need?

Evening, I did a little work on my Morris engine mounts today, changed most nuts and bolts over - using 1/4 whitworth nuts on the old bolts (which were fine) - however when I came to tinker with the engine mounting rubbers I found whilst the two nuts required to hold the rubber to the tower were normal 1/4 whitworth, the single nut that holds the engine on to each rubber was a larger size - I used a 5/16 bsf spanner to remove them. Now they were quite tight on the thread and rusty, and so wanted to buy new ones However ESM and Bull both list these nuts as '3/8 ' UNF ?
So, what to order? 3/8 unf or 5/16 bsf?
Help appreciated.

They will be unf on mounts these days - probably always were.

Right, right - realised the problem - the two engine rubbers I put ON today are both new old stock. The ones that came off were NEW (and too hard) from Bull. the nuts that came off the NEW rubbers are clearly 3/8 unf - as per the spanner I used and the fact they fitted the new rubbers. BUT now I have two OLD rubbers on and the nuts are not quite right!!! Can anybody tell me what nuts USED to be used originally so I can get the right ones??
Thank you!!

Perhaps BSF - try a nut from the front suspension lower arm to see if it fits...

Yes, I'll give that a god - oh by the way, have you heard if the NEW rubber mounts, supposedly new formula, as sold now on Bull are any good? I have seen them tonight - the last ones I got, 12 months ago, are like concrete!
