Removing fuel line from petrol tank

Post by Mandymoo »

G day I'm removing the fuel tank from a morris minor 1000 1960 model. My question is: to remove the fuel line from the tank do I have to remove the fuel line completely? I as this as when Iv undone the fitting from the tan the line will not come out of the tank so Im wondering if I go ahead and remove the tan whether the fuel line will just slip out or whether I will bend it.
Thanks for any advice

You need to unclip the line from the underside of the car so that there is room to move it away from the tank. Assuming that you wire brushed the union and then soaked it with penetrating oil, and then successfully undid the "nut" then it should withdraw quite easily once it is free to move back. It only needs to withdraw by around half an inch. Cleanliness is important. If the line is damaged, then replace it.

You'll have realised that you need to remove the boot floor to get to the tank. Wire brush and airline to clean the cross head screws holding the tank in place so that you can get a good grip. Penetrating oil again very useful. Good luck.
