GWR or LMS for me. Went to the Jubilee celebrations at Tyseley earlier this year and was mesmerised by the size and power of the Duchess of Sutherland and the Princess Elizabeth. With my surname being Peckett I do have a soft spot for the little industrial engine.

G.W.R Tank engines are a favourite of mine.4566 Small prairie is seen at Bridgenorth on the Severn valley railway in September this year.Out of interest they have a minor 1000 saloon on display at Highley museum 'The engine shed',anybody know any history of this car?[frame]

I love steam too, so I looked Tyseley up on the web as I hadn't heard of it before and I'm glad I did, as it seems to be worth a visit, although it doesn't seem to be open very often.
For anyone else who may be interested the next open day is on the 22nd & 23rd June, they open at 10.00am, although the car park is open from 9.00am and that's when ticket sales commence.
Adults are £10, children under 15 are free.
Tyseley Works is on the A41 (Warwick Road) just outside Birmingham (for those who don't already know).
Something for next years diary............

On this side of the pond, I've had the pleasure of two trips on the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad in Colorado.

Don't want to be pedantic but a train is made up of locomotive and rolling stock. An engine on its own is simply that or more correctly a locomotive.

Bulleid Q 1 - a fine beast if ever there was one.
8F and 9F class
Horwich Works narrow gauge locos, most of which were sadly scrapped.

Whilst waiting at a local level crossing just before Christmas, and on my way to get a much deserved Chinese after a hard day on the Morris, I saw this pull through slowly

LNER Class A4 4488 Union of South Africa (60009)
It was on its way back to Kings Cross after pulling a 'special' to the Lincoln Christmas Market - my thoughts immediately turned to a very experienced engine and Morris driver from North of the border who posts a bit on this forum
