voltage breaks down

Hello from Germany,

on my Traveller the voltage is breaking down when I turn the key to ignition.
There is power on two cables to the ignition lock.
But as soon as I turn the key there is no power anywhere............
But it is not permanent...........and this is the real problem!!

Sometimes the ignition lock works as it should.

At the same time the wipers and the frontlight do not work!
I can gauge 12V on the fuse box when the ignition lock works.
Only the interior lighting is working.
Do I have a cable break somewhere?

I'm frustrated!!!!

Guido

Possibly a short circuit somewhere drawing current away.

This happens simply when the ignition is on or when you try cranking?

Bad connections at the battery or earth lead connection.

Doesn't happen if you say switch on the headlights?? Then it's a dodgy Ignition switch - fit a new one ! Although you could try a wee squirt of WD40 into the workings.......

He says 'at the same the wipers and frontlight do not work' so I assume this includes headlamps.

Check the wiring for faults and examine the terminals of all wires.

Found the mistake now!
The second connector of the regulator has a loose connection sometimes.
If I wiggle it it works again.......sometimes!

So clean it and remake the connection!
