Please note that split windscreens finished production in 1956

Re: 57 split windscreen value
I had a 1956 split screen (TDD920) which was first registered in May 1957. It must have been one of the last produced and sold as "old stock".
A photo of the car you have been offered would be useful.
Years ago a BL dealer here in Rennes, not far from where I live, had an new and unsold/unregistered Austin 1100 (production ended in 1974) sitting at the back of the showroom behind Allegros and Marinas - this was some time between 1977 and 1983 !

Re: 57 split windscreen value
We have a '56 splitscreen, built 31st August and not registered until 12th October, '56, so in theory a car from a showrooom may not have sold/been registered until early '57

Re: 57 split windscreen value
Even the MOT doesn't say much about how good the car is
How much does you friend want for it?

Re: 57 split windscreen value
It would be interesting to know when indeed it was registered as I'd imagine the very last 803's weren't very popular. The split-screen was certainly old-fashioned by then and the engine we know all about.
All depends on condition - we do indeed require more info - but assuming the rust isn't rampant and the engine knackered then around the £1,000 mark. Note this is only my opinion, photos would help greatly for a more accurate figure.

Hi, my friend recons around £1400. The engine bay is very oily the floor pan has had patches here and there to not a great standard , I was hoping to pay to a max of £1000 , could be a nice wee car with lots of TLC

Re: 57 split windscreen value
We need pictures ! But frankly - not a very exciting car -so it's just going to be a miserably slow run-around. I agree £1000 max -in fact nearer £700 if the patches are rough....... What's the state of the crossmember under the front seats? And the chassis legs?? It's a BIG mistake to buy from a 'friend'. When it turns out to be a pile of mince - you can't go back and complain....and you'll hate him for ever! Tell him to put it up on ebay and then bid what you think it's worth........

Re: 57 split windscreen value
Wise advice Roy think I will leave well alone . It's got more patches underneath than my granny's quilt , I think I was just taken with the spilt windscreen , could easily spend hundreds on it
Thanks for the advice guys
