My windscreen rubber leaks. should I go the whole hog and fit a new screen as well. the existing one is ok but has a few battle scars.

A good idea, suggest you fit the new laminated ones then if it should (we hope not) break in the future you won't be showered in sharp glass.
If the kitty will provide and you use the car daily consider a heated screen?

Unless of course.....a stone should fly up and crack the screen........ Check your insurance docs!! If you try to replace the rubber yourself, take GREAT care if it is a lammy screen - they break very very easily......
