Name that car?

Post by jmcar »

A friend of mine has just come across the photo below. It is of his Dad, aged about 8-10 (the one on the left) standing next to a car in Australia round about 1945-1950.

Can anyone say what exactly the car is?[frame]Image[/frame]

Thanks for the answers - I'm not so hot on identifying stuff that old :D

I don't suppose there's any database of registered cars in Oz, like the DVLA query site over here? It's a long shot that this car is still in existence but it'd be nice to know if it was.

I'm afraid I wouldn't know where to look! Sure someone more aware will know. Not sure how Australian plates work but it may be that you can't find it by the reg as it will have changed.
Not sure if there's an early Jag owners club you could try?

About twenty years ago my friends neighbour was a farmer had several of those SS Jags and XJS jag and lots of other old cars in a barn and they all ended up being banger raced which was a shame as I had a look at them before they were stripped and raced and they could have been restored.
