reg check?
Would anyone who knows how to do these things please tell me if 859 gab registration still exists on a mini?

Re: reg check?
Hi,
The DVLA website doesn't list a Mini (Austin or Morris) with this reg, however that doesn't mean that it isn't either still on the car tucked away somewhere, transferred to another vehicle or separated and on retention with someone.
Best wishes,
Mike.

Thanks for a quick reply. Mike. I presume from your post, that there is no way of knowing if the reg has been transferred to another vehicle that is on the road.

Re: reg check?
My car was originally registered as RVV 119, however the garage who bought it from the original owner in 1990 pinched it and put it on a Toyota Hilux!!
They then sold it on. I went to the DVLA office in Northampton (yes, they still have some..... at present.....) and enquired about getting it back, as after checking on their website I couldn't find it. However they simply stated flatly that it was unavailable, which I took to mean that the latest owner has it on retention.
As a post script I was emailed a couple of months back by them to tell me that 119 RVV is still available...... but only when they decide to auction it off!!
And doubtless only then for some extortionate sum of money!!.............
Anyway my point is that unless you know someone on the 'inside' at the DVLA they won't tell you.
(I presume this is down to the data protection act which covers everything.......... except civil servants on trains who leave briefcases full of documents they shouldn't have taken off site behind for anyone to find................)
