Hi, the fuel gauge on my van reads low.. That is to say, when the tank if full, it reads 3/4 and when it shows empty I still have about 1 1/2 gallons in the tank. Is there an adjustment I can make??

Or should I just be greatful that it works at all ??

Be grateful! You could bend the float arm - but frankly it's working the 'right' way - warning you before you run out. I would just live with it.

My 67 Trav fuel gauge was off the other way causing me to run out of gas once when I thought I had a quarter tank left. I fixed it this way: on the back of the gauge I found a small slot that enabled me to insert a small flat screwdriver and turn the needle to an accurate reading. Fixed!! you do have to pull the speedo for this. cheers

Thanks very much for the information guys. If I have to have the speedo out at any stage I will look for the adjustment and if not I will try a gentle bend of the float arm.. I will leave well enough alone at the moment thought. Thanks again

Have you checked the earth to the speedo and gauge first of all?

No, do I have to remove the speedo to find the earth??

Not really, just remove the glove-box liners and see if the two Philips retaining screws either side are in place and tight. Also with ign. on move the speedo slightly to get the best contact with the car body.

Thanks. Sounds easy enough. Will give it a go this weekend.
