If you are after a long term resto, take a look and make your own judgement. If you want a driver, just get the best your money can buy and keep on top. The resto will always work out more expensive, but more self satisfaction.

If it's been sitting in a field for 17+ years it'll need complete new floor sections/inner wings. A BIG project.

It's likely to break it's back as soon as you try to move it. So don't commit till you see it out of the field and on hard standing.

What ever you can see on the outside is worse on the inside

Bearing in mind that you've just sold a Minor which had a completely rotten floor as it was too much of a project, one that has sat in a field for 17 years isn't going to be in any better condition
If you really want a project then you need to decide what type of a project is going to be manageable for you in terms of skill, time & budget. If you want a Minor which you can drive and enjoy now, buy a roadworthy one and maintain/improve it as you go along.

well said Louise
good strong advise
if there is a member near his address and willing to go along with him
and advise/guide on the pros and cons of a prospective purchase
this would be the best route to a happy conclusion for the young lad
who is keen to learn on these old cars

I think you will be out of the frying pan into the fire! I had to double check it actually was you contemplating this, as I couldn't believe it after the worry the last one presented you. For your own sake wait for a better one and look in better weather, they say never buy a car in the rain.

rae - the right car is out there waiting for you - you just haven't found it yet!
Bit more time hunting- perhaps in the Spring when they all come out of the garages and people decide whether their "project" is really for them or they retire from "Minoring" and sell their car.
