Passed her 11 plus

Took the '56 today for its MoT and passed with advisories on l/h front brake not pulling its weight (this I knew about) probably due to lack of use - it soon corrects itself when applied hard. And slight weep on rear brake drum (this I wasn't aware of).

So it's good for another year. :D

Tester also commented on how solid it was underneath. :D

I was going to ask the same Q as BMC, is your MOT for your peace of mind as I thought that you pre 1960 owners did not have to worry about the yearly test any longer.

Yes peace of mind - I'll continue to get it done for safety reasons and cover myself should - hopefully never- an accident occur.

Did you get a printout of the brake test?
I'd be interested, The front axle brakes need to be balanced within 25% left to right so that should possibly have been a fail on front brakes out of balance.
Also ANY brake fluid leak detected is a FAIL instantly. Moggies are a SINGLE line brake system it's very INPORTANT not to have ANY leaks anyway.

A very good reason why this MOT exemption is a bad idea, and nice to hear of someone doing it 'right' ie: having a voluntary test and being notified of a slight brake imbalance and a leak on rear drum (which could well be axle rather than brake fluid) both of which would be easliy missed if not on a ramp or brake tester.

I always ask if there was anything marginal, next year it might not make the grade.

That's fair enough, that option is open to you but the mot apparently only applies at the time so covering yourself may be in doubt. I too, hope you never need to!
