I've just refitted the sliding rear windows into my traveller using new window channel. Although this is fitted as closely together as possible there's still quite a large gap between the inner and outer sliding windows. Enough I would think for driving rain to enter and certainly enough for draughts. What to do about this is the problem. Any ideas? Thanks.

Thanks for that. Trouble is how do I get them closer together? The runners are fitted as tightly together as possible but I still have the gap.

Don't understand 'runners' - there is one runner with a double track ....just like a railway!!

We really need to see some photos of the problem area so we can help you with this.

The double track runners are really two single channels put close together. There should be a gap between the two sheets of glass. That gap is filled by a flexible rubber draught excluder that is an extension of the seal between the glass and the metal "handle" on the rear (inner) sheet of glass.

I'm still having a nightmare though.
There's a picture of the problem below.
When I push the bottom pair of channels together the gap between the two panes of glass is 10mm - obviously enough for rain to get in. As you can see in the photo I have tried a small piece of black rubber to fill the gap. This will do the trick but obviously isn't right.
The other thing I'd like to know is should the channel be drilled through its bottom surface above the drain holes in the middle rail beneath?

As earlier - the handle seals the gap. The drain holes must be kept clear - so drill AWAY from the drains.

A double track runner has only one thickness of channel between them, where as if two single runners are pushed together it will have two thicknesses of channel between them ,if you see what I mean , please disregard this comment if a double track runner has been used, but reading the original post they may have two single runners

Hadn't thought of that Ian. I do indeed have 2 separate runners fitted. I'll look into the possibility of a double one. Many thanks.

Did you have any luck finding the double channel for sliding windows, just that I'm doing mine this winter.

PS did you manage to sort out the gap problem out....

digging this one up - the moss links are no longer valid and i've got the same gap in between my windows. just about to place a parts order so would be good to add these in too

The gap is to be expected, and as stated previously, there is a rubber seal that fills it. Of the offering currently available, the best that I have found is from CWs parts operation near Bristol.
