Could someone on the Forum do me a favour and post some pictures of the 4.5J wheels you can now purchase from the usual suppliers actually on their car? I'm wrestling with which wheels to put on my convertible and whilst I am tempted by some minilites, I do rather like the original look of the wider van rims. It's hard to get a good idea of how good (or not) these new style 4.5J wheels are when all you can see in the adverts is a wheel without a tyre and not on a car. Thanks folks - appreciate your help

Assuming they are the same offset as the originals - it's actually quite difficult to notice the difference on the car - only the knowledgeable will see the slight extra offset! And the tyre sitting more squarely on the rim - not bulging over the side.......[frame][/frame]

Thanks Roy - appreciate the photo. I see what you mean about the offset but these look good to me.

It's only 1/2" each side - looks more in that picture I know, but I think just a trick of the light.

Are you running 155 tyres on them or 165?

155 - 165 would be too wide for 4.5 rims.

Nice picture - where taken? Loughborough?? I had the good luck to be rostered Driving Morayshire 3 times this year and many more turns Firing. The big wheels are a bit of a challenge for our line when the rails are wet - so it's important to have a good 'charge' at the hill..........

It is indeed - just a LOT more noise.......

Same Loco in both pictures - Morayshire - the ONLY Shire/Hunt D49 left I'm afraid. It was never at Barry - it was 'saved' because they used it as a boiler to heat water for the laundry at Haymarket in Edinburgh!

Just for comparison here is a 175/80/13 tyre on a 13/5.5J wheel which has the same circumference as a 155/80/14 tyre

Yes - that's a very sensible alternative with more rubber on the road - IF you can find the 5.5" wheels !

You've probably said before Mike but where were those wheels from?

I you have deep pockets (V deep pockets) these wheels are finishing shortly. However they have an extra 1" on the outside - which will put the tyre contact patch too far away from where it really should be......not a great idea.
