IIRC the cream switch/lever is fitted to the underside of the dashboard on the righthandside - RHD cars. Sorry I can't take a photo car is at Daughter's house

Re: trafficator switch position.
Type of switch depends on whether it's a 2 or 4 door.
Lou, I must beg to differ, the illuminated switch was brown bakelite, the white ones being used for the Austin A.30.

Strange. We had an "unmolested/original '56 from original family which had the cream turn switch. I had an A35 myself so I know they're not the same - we used to refer to it as the "hard boiled egg"!!

The brown illuminated 'round' switch was used on 2 door saloons & convertibles and the white 'lever' type switch was used on 4 door saloons. Both were positioned just below the driver's end of the fascia panel.

I don't "think" you can get them new. Try Ebay, Wanted section on here, or Club Spares autojumbles. (and yes our '56 is a 4dr - sorry for any confusion)

Re: trafficator switch position.
The 4 door switch is self cancelling and works on a delay system, however they are frequently faulty and are very expensive if you can find one. There was a thread on the message board recently.
The 2 door switch is much more reliable and only expensive. You will also need the bracket which screws to the seam under the glove box or in the case of a tourer, the switch screws straight on to the triangular bracing plate which has the hole provided.
Not too familiar with late Series IIs but are you sure that they did not have column switches? The holes for the original switch fittings should be evident.

Re: trafficator switch position.
Mike, my own car is 30,000 from the end of S.II production and has the brown under-dash switch. As far as I'm aware the Series II ended production without any of the modifications found on the Minor 1000.
I have looked into fitting a column switch to flash the headlights but it can't be done as the whole column assembly turns with the wheel.

Mike you may be right there,I used to drive a 55,or 56 back in the mid 60ies and can't remember having to use a dash mounted switch. Someone out there must have a 55 ser11 unmolested to confirm,
Or was there an option from new to have a column switch.well just been and had a look at mine and there is an L shaped bracket, with a hole through it where I assumed there had been a toggle switch fitted at some time, under the dash just to the right of the column. So guess thats where it was fitted. So now to find a four door, very rare and expensive bit,as well as a pair of high cut rear wings.
Would still like to see a photo if anyone could post one.Thanks.

Re: trafficator switch position.
well it's nothing like that,it's like the bracket for the switch on the inside, like the one with the pull switch. No sign of any holes near where the switch on your is.Certainly non facing forwards,I take it that the bracket is original, Very strange

I 'suggest' if you feel the topic is not relevant then you should keep your opinions to yourself. To some people, it clearly does matter hence the topic, what's the point in having a website to preserve the Minor if its members feel it isn't relevant..tomas.geoghegan wrote: YOU SEEM TO HAVE IN FOR ME FOR SOME REASON I WILL READ ANY POST I LIKE AS EVERY OTHER MEMBER DOES.IF YOUR NOT HAPPY I SURGEST STRONGLY YOU STOP READING MY POSTS TOMAS
