in this months practical classics they indicate the use of 185/14 tyres from a polo does anyone know if this is ok surely they are to large for a standard saloon wheels,

Much too wide for standard wheels. Can you post the offending paragraph?

Pratical classics -seriously - does anyone still read that? Of course they are FAR too wide for the 3.5" standard Minor wheels. 145 X 14 is the max size on standard wheels. Some use 155 - the handling is then like driving a blancmange........

Agreed, 155/14 tyres with 4 1/2" wheels are fine but definately not on standard 3 1/2" rims.

I read that article. It was one of the PC team project cars. Yes, a bit mental the choice of tyres. I very much like the mag though. Should write me thinks.
