I noticed in the DVLA (aka Swansea) database that the Morris Minor Traveller that I owned for a few years in the 1970s is still on the road and taxed in the UK. Someone somewhere must have attended to some serious corrosion on the underside. Anyhow:
1. I'd love to know how the car is now and where.
2. I'd be more than happy to provide a brief history of the car's early years, though the quality of what I can tell is, alas, subject to the quality of my memory.
3. If interested to know how the car looked in approximately 1974, feel free to paste the link below into your browser

And thanks for reading it.
Regards
Charles

I know exactly which garage it's sat in - my dad's
Funnily enough - I've just regrettably put it up for sale due to child number 3 on the way.
Strangely it looks a lot better now than it did in that picture when it was only 6 years old!

Well, I'm not sure about the wheels.....
But it is a great delight to know that the car is well loved and living in Kent. It looks absolutely beautiful, and indeed much cleaner than it was when I had it as a student. I sold it for a pittance to a guy who looked after the public car parks in Cambridge when I got a (slightly) grown up job which involved commuting to London by train. The annual Cambridge-London season ticket was 516 pounds in 1978 which felt like a lot, and for several years after getting that job I was carless.
Anyhow, the guy to whom I sold it seemed to be a good bet when it came to looking after the car and from the picture it's clear that he and / or a successor was.
The picture in Bavaria was taken en route to Rome to where I took the car on a mini-grand tour when I was (I think) 19. My parents must have been mad to let me go, but when you're young you think you'll live for ever, and my parents were from the wartime generation that was still a little bit surprised - in a good way - to be alive at all. Once I got to Italy the car was so rare that the Italian kids waved and yelled greetings at my half-timbered self as I "charged" along the autostrada at a stately pace, and when I went the wrong way along a one way street in central Rome the policeman was very understanding as I understood even less Italian than I did. Those Morris Minors brought out the best in people. Though the apparent brake fluid evaporation after coming down the Alps (also on the Italian side) was a bit alarming. Fortunately that never happened again.
Anyhow, I hope you'll find a good home for the car. And I wish you and the other team members involved every success with the family expansion project. Our own third child is certainly a delight, just like (though actually very different from) the first two.
Best wishes

It's great to hear some of the history of the car from before I first new it. Funny you should have taken it on a tour across Europe when you were younger as me and a couple of mates did similar when I was 21 and took her through France, down to Spain. She certainly is a well travelled Traveller!
I hope to find her a good home as it'd be a shame to see all of the hard work, not to mention money, go to waste. I'll be sad to see her go.
Thanks for the info,
Jim

Hi Jim,
Did you find a home for the Traveller?
