Been after a chrome windscreen surround for splitty but these are like rocking horse poo to find or really expensive!! What do you guys/gals think about using the chrome strips on a reel from your local factors to create the look?

I doubt it will work because the rubber would have to be super clean, the strip would have to be warmed and bent around the corners . I have fitted chrome OE moulding kits to Honda 4X4 in the past and it came with a primer/adhesion promoter that had to be painted on the bodywork before fitting. If it could be found what this was it might just work, but the strip would need to be moulded around the corners and left to cool down and the fir checked before attempting to fit

Would obviously not look the same because the ser 11 strip just about covers the whole of the rubber, except for the tapered bit from the glass. But if you could get the bends right, then a tube of sikoflex would probably stick it on,if you got the rubber clean enough. Would be interested to see the result, you could start a little cottage industry :D trouble is if the result looks naff and you have to strip it off, what will the rubber now look like.you might then be asking how to replace a ser 11 screen rubber :(
