Made between about 62 and 64, two tone seats on the deluxe models, flashing brake light arrangement, clap hands wipers, pull start and a few other things but these are the main ones! There is now a register for these vehicles.

Found this on google, its shows the seats off quite well!

And 1098 engine and transmission.
The lack of semaphore trafficator slots distinguishes the body from the previous 948 model

There has been letters in Minors matters about it and at the National this year I was given a leaflet about it. A guy called Neil Axtell has set up the register. Email (see post below!) and he will send you the form to fill out with your chassis number and other details.

The register was having there first rally last month but I havent heard how they got on.

The criteria for what makes a Dual Personality 1098 Minor is more complex then we first thought! There are actually 2 distinct phases for Dual Personality Minor with Phase 1 being Sept 62 to Oct 63 and Phase 2 being Oct 63 to Oct 64. A full "Spotters Guide" can be found on the Register's website at http://dpminors.wordpress.com.

To apply to join the Register simply send an email to dpminors.register 'at' gmail.com with basic information about your Minor (including the chassis number) and I'll send you a full registration form back. Currently we have 68 Dual Personality Minors on the Register.

Our first mini-Rally was a great day even though it rained heavily for most of the day with 14% of the Register turning up (i.e. 8 Minors most of which were Travellers)

I've just had a look at the list of 'features' detailed on the website for early 1098s, and it's worth pointing out that many were not introduced with the 1098s, but had already been introduced previously. That may be what's meant on the web page, but it reads a bit confusingly. e.g. just an example of 2 points:

"Trafficators replaced with an early attempt at flashing indicators. The front indicators share the front sidelight but with a dual filament bulb that uses a 21W element for the indicator, so the front indicator flashes the white sidelight. The rear indicator works by flashing the red rear brake light. However, many owners replaced this with separate orange indicators at the rear due to the confusion it caused!"

"Heater updated by adding a small flap at the bottom of the heater that attempts to draw fresh air into the car. This is operated bya choke-type cable mounted right of centre in the lower heater outlet deflecter."

These features were both introduced well before 1098 introduction, as were many of the others. The website says "All other features remained as the previous 948cc Minors", but these features and many of the others listed ARE the same as the previous 948 cars. BMC were actually just using up parts they had left over, subsequently changes were introduced gradually...
My 1962 948 should really be classed as 'transitional' too - anyone fancy setting up a register for that? I suspect there are fewer of those late 948 cars than of the early 1098s! We could have a register for every variant!!

I've recently covered this period for the LCV's.

Would someone please send me pics of chassis & body number
plates for these unique vehicles.

Additonally, is there a chassis number list for known examples?

Cannot help without information.
