Disc Brake identification

Hi everyone,

Whn I bought my '68 1000 last year, the owner told me it had a front disc brake conversion, but he didn't know much about it as it had been done by the previous owner.

The brakes seem to be working well (noticably more effective than the original brakes on the last Minor I drove), but when I had it MOT'd recently, the garage said they would need replacing soon due to the surface corrosion on the disks and general condition.

The problem is - I've got no idea what the parts are from. I've attached a photo. The text on the caliper is 'Lockheed 3243 331C'.

Any guidance or suggestions much appreciated!

But appear to be mounted ahead on your car. Shouldn't be an issue, as the bleed nipples are still at the top, and that's what's important!

I'm utterly amazed a garage would pass that at MOT!! It's a very definite FAIL!! And the Midget ones shown are 'only just' ok - although they will probably clean up with a few good hard applications - till the pads start to smell!

OK thanks guys. To be fair the garage did suggest I get it sorted "soon" but that was it. Still at least I know what parts to get now

They were being more than kind to you ! Measure the diameter o the disc before you go ordering new ones. And of course - new pads too! The calipers will probably benefit from new seals and a set of stainless pistons too....... This is one of the problems with running discs on a Minor - they don't get enough use to keep them clean!
