This was my first Run and what a fantastic event! Excellent organisation and great route, the 803 being unfit meant I had to go in the Austin but next year will see the 803 being put through its paces. My thanks go to all the organisers and volunteers who made this such a brilliant day.

This cracking little 803 van literally flew round the lanes, it was like a scene from Postman Pat seeing the red top bobbing about behind the hedges:[frame]

Brilliant photos and nice to see another succesful Roses Run. We took part in every one (9 years worth!) till the kids arrived last year and look forward to them being old enough to spend the day rattling round in the back of a Minor!
Good to see the post office van out and about, that was one of my first body rebuilds I did for the owners, and it really was a basket case. I like your Allegro too. Cracking colour - suits it a treat

Thanks Iain. The van was really stunning - well done. I think it resides in a museum now but still gets out and about. The door locks were an interesting feature of it. Re the colour of the Aggro it is Citron and is the only one left in this country known to the club.

Yes its a great day out / weekend event. The social evenings the night before and at the end of the run make for a very enjoyable weekend, I'd reccomend it to anyone.
Think I've seen a Marina in citron, but not an Allegro, which makes sense if yours is the only one!
The van was pretty rubbish when I first started it. Note the sill hanging off and the amount of repairs onthe bulkhead to fit a new battery box and Lh shock absorber.... I daren't take it off the chassis till all the cab was rebuilt or it would have collapsed!

The owners, Peter and Stephen did a great job in building it up after the body was done and its nice to see it used too. I think its still on its very low ratio 5.75:1 Post office spec diff, which is great for the Roses Run as it'll go up the hills well but no need to exceed 40mph!

Believe me Iain i didn't exceed 35 Miles per hour all weekend. However it ran like a dream, it was great fun fun to drive. The van is now a permanent exhibit at Bury Transport Museum, next to the East Lancs Railway in Bury Lancs.

I can believe it! Another restored Series 2 van that I finished off, was very steady to drive and was a slightly higher ratio diff. Pleasant but you didn't want to be in a rush...
